Information/Instructional Design

What is information/instructional design?

As stated by Sharp, Rogers & Preece in their book Interaction Design: beyond human-computer interaction (2nd edition).
"The main aim of interaction design is to bring usability into the design process. It is about developing interactive products that are easy, effective, and enjoyable to use—from the users' perspective.".
It is the design of an educational system aimed and teaching and how to aid teaching.

Examples of information/instructional design

Science World British Columbia is a non-profit organisation which engages British Columbians in science and inspires future science and technology leadership. They offer online science experiments, games and learning experiences for their users.

Turbo Chef
TurboChef was once only enjoyed by commercial chefs. It now is available to all and has been designed with hundreds of professionals home chefs to achieve faster cooking without compromising quality.

Virtual Keyboard
Just as the name suggests virtual keyboard allows users to play the piano. It goes from middle c to upper f with different sounds including the flute, saxophone, pan pipes, strings etc. It also allows users to select a set of notes to be played with chord mode. A great tool for learning notes on a piano.
