Information/Instructional Design

What is information/instructional design?

As stated by Sharp, Rogers & Preece in their book Interaction Design: beyond human-computer interaction (2nd edition).
"The main aim of interaction design is to bring usability into the design process. It is about developing interactive products that are easy, effective, and enjoyable to use—from the users' perspective.".
It is the design of an educational system aimed and teaching and how to aid teaching.

Examples of information/instructional design

Virtual Keyboard
Just as the name suggests virtual keyboard allows users to play the piano. It goes from middle c to upper f with different sounds including the flute, saxophone, pan pipes, strings etc. It also allows users to select a set of notes to be played with chord mode. A great tool for learning notes on a piano.

Interactive Design

Interactive design is the study of devices in which users can interact. As Dan Saffey stated it is
"The art of facilitating or instigating interactions betwen humans, mediated by products. By interctions, I mostly mean communication either one-on-one (a telephone call), one-to-many (blogs) or many-to-many (the stock market). The products an interaction designer creates can be digital or analog, physical or incorporeal or some combination thereof".
